SAN DIEGO PILATES STUDIO

Pilates, originally known as Contrology, is a low-impact form of exercise that can help you build strength, flexibility, and mobility. There are 6 principles which we incorporate into every session. The foundations start with intentional breath and centering with a strong mind/body connection. The need to concentrate will be required as you move with control, but go with the flow, and eventually find precision when you finally master each movement. As time progresses, so do the exercises and level of difficulty.

CLIENT Testimonials

Ashley Fedarko is an amazing Pilates instructor. I have worked with Ashley every week for over a year and her workouts have changed my body. I am not only stronger, but I am also more confident in what my body can do. She tailors each session so that I get the best workout based on how my body is feeling that day. The workouts are never boring and she is constantly making sure I am challenged. I highly recommend Ashley if you want to get stronger and feel more confident in your body.

I have been taking Pilates classes with Ashley for 18 months, both group classes and private sessions. Ashley is an amazing teacher. She really understands the human body and its connection with the mind. She is able to break down and explain the different parts of a Pilates exercise, and then helps me put them all together in a meaningful whole. I have progressed so much under Ashley's tutelage! I'm in my 70's; yet you'd never know it from my posture and ability to move. I enthusiastically recommend Ashley as a Pilates instructor to anyone of any age or fitness level!

I highly recommend Ashley Michelle Fitness for anyone looking to move their body in an effective and enjoyable way! Not only is Ashley a wealth of knowledge, but you feel like you’re working out with a friend. I’ve taken group classes and privates with her, and I always leave feeling more connected to my body than when I started. She takes the time to explain things in a way that everyone can understand. Whether you’re a novice or more advanced, her instruction will meet your needs!

When I started my Pilates journey I was so nervous. I was fearful of being judged and unable to succeed. I made the decision to reach out to Ashley when I was ready to dive in deeper to the Pilates world. At the first session, we discussed my experience with exercise, created goals and discussed what I wanted to get out of private sessions. From that first day Ashley made me feel so comfortable and excited about Pilates. I have gained strength, muscles & abilities I didn't know I had. And most importantly the confidence to feel like I can succeed at any goal we set. She always gives you positive reinforcement. And she will always push you because she knows what you’re capable of as a student. She personalizes your workouts and you will always leave in a sweat . And most likely sore the next day. I do these sessions as a form of self care. I am proud of where I am today all because of Ashley and her trust in me and my abilities.

Taking Ashley’s group classes introduced me to her wonderful energy. The cues she uses during the exercises take her classes to another level. She connects to her students at a high level of energy that not only provides a great physical workout, but a feeling of spiritual growth as well. Her sessions/classes are never the same. In group classes she brings variety so that everyone can grow. In private lessons she focuses on the areas that I personally need to work on including strength, length and stability. I have a limitation with my shoulder, so I decided to try private lessons with her. WOW! what a difference she has made for me. She has taught me many variations/modifications that allow me to continue to grow and succeed even with my limitations. I love the different ways that she reminds me what muscles I should be using. I can take what I learn in private sessions back to group classes as well. I look forward to continued work and growth with her both in private and group classes.

Ashley made a huge impact on my life! Her coaching and teaching style is personal, engaging, and motivating. Ashley is an excellent communicator when it comes to helping people connect to their bodies; she helped me create confidence in knowing how to trust in and rely on my body. She is extremely knowledgeable about not only pilates, but the complex interplay between mind and body. I would highly recommend her as a Pilates instructor and trainer!

It was such a pleasure working with Ashley throughout my pregnancy. She is so incredibly knowledgeable at what she does and was able to support me with modifications to keep baby and I safe. She helped me feel strong and confident and was so encouraging each and every class! Her breath work and form cues with me were so beneficial and I believe they played a huge part in my labor experience. The nurses at the hospital were so impressed with my pelvic floor control during labor, and I owe that to Pilates.

Who Can Benefit From Pilates?

ATHLETES

Are you a current or former athlete? Ashley is too! She understands why the following are important components and incorporates them into each personalized program: agility, alignment, balance, coordination, deceleration, flexibility, speed, and strength. Joseph himself was a gymnast and a boxer, so Pilates is inherently athletic due to the nature of its creator. It’s also a great option for injury prevention and effective post-rehab if you’ve ever sustained an injury.

ACTIVE AGING

Calling all active adults! Ashley calls Pilates the fountain of youth and Joseph himself said something like “you’re only as young as your spine is healthy.” Each personalized program will address specific needs for the client but all will include balance, strength, and coordination. We’ll be sure to include some light cardio and weight training as well as mobility exercises (think getting off the floor with no hands). Leave each session feeling longer, stronger, and taller.

PRE & POSTPARTUM

Pilates is a safe and effective way to move both during and after pregnancy (if your instructor is knowledgeable and your doctor approves). Ashley specializes in pre & postpartum fitness and understands how to safely move bodies that are anywhere along that journey. She’ll remind you that pregnancy is not a disability and you’ll know she truly believes it because she’’ll give you a challenging workout every time. She can’t wait to meet you and grow together.

MEN

Pilates was created by a man for men! I feel like most people forget that that fun fact. Pilates started his method of movement while rehabbing wounded soldiers. He would use either upper or lower body springs that were attached to the bed frame. Today we use a reformer, springboard, ExoChair, and more in the studio. Ashley has an athletic style of teaching and will be sure to teach you proper technique along the way, so you can build strength and stability.

WOMEN

Pilates is a fabulous low-impact style of movement that can improve core strength, muscle tone, and spinal mobility. It can also be paired nicely with whatever hormonal stage your body is currently in. It’s a great compliments to other styles of movement and is effective if it’s the only form of movement you participate in. With a regular Pilates practice, you can enjoy the benefits of better posture, improved sleep, less aches/pains, and improved mental clarity.

TEENS (14-17)

Pilates is a great way to cultivate a healthy mind-body connection through purposeful movement. Even Joseph himself said “Contrology is the complete coordination of mind, body, and spirit.” Send your teen for a session whether they’re a beginner with movement or a seasoned athlete. It’s important to incorporate movement as a daily practice in our child’s lives especially to hone skills like proprioception, bodily awareness, confidence, and body positivity.
