MAT PILATES CLASSES
Mat Pilates are challenging, but appropriate for all levels, even beginners. Most exercises can be modified or broken down into pieces to make them accessible or to build strength in places required to execute the full expression of the exercise.
Joseph Pilates designed both a routine on the reformer and mat. The mat routine is quite humbling considering it requires quite a bit of strength and flexibility (everywhere!) Think, body weight vs. gravity. Legend has it that Joseph spent time in confinement which is possibly where he developed said mat routine. If you know it well enough, it makes sense because all 34 of the exercises can be performed within the mat area (or the amount of space one might have if locked up in a cell or living with limited space).
If you’re looking for an effective yet minimal style of Pilates, mat Pilates is for you. You can take your mat on-the-go when you travel or use it at home or outdoors. This makes your workout accessible even when you can’t get to the studio.

OUR CLASSES
WHAT TO EXPECT
Each mat Pilates class will be 60 minutes. You can expect a high energy, low impact style of exercise that will work the entire body (and mind!). We will move the spine in all directions (flexion, extension, & rotation) and through all planes of movement. You’ll leave feeling longer, stronger, and probably a little sweaty. Don’t hesitate to come if you have any old injuries or aches and pains. Remember: motion is lotion.
