MAT PILATES LESSONS
Joseph Pilates designed both a routine on the reformer and mat. The mat routine is quite humbling considering it requires quite a bit of strength and flexibility (everywhere!) Legend has it that Joseph spent time in confinement which is possibly where he developed said mat routine. If you know it well enough, it makes sense because all 34 of the exercises can be performed within the mat area (or the amount of space one might have if locked up in a cell or living with limited space).
Mat Pilates is challenging, but appropriate for all levels, even beginners. Most exercises can be modified or broken down into pieces to make them accessible or to build strength in places required to execute the full expression of the exercise.
If you’re looking for an effective yet minimal style of Pilates, mat Pilates is for you. You can take your mat on-the-go when you travel or use it at home or outdoors. This makes your workout accessible even when you can’t get to the studio.

OUR SESSIONS
WHAT TO EXPECT
Each session will be 1:1 with Ashley who will personalize sessions to meet your needs and goals. At the initial session you’ll review a health history questionnaire and address any fitness/wellness milestones you’d like to reach, so we can keep your body healthy and your mind on track to achieve every milestone we set.
Lessons are 1 hour beginning with a warm-up followed by a full body workout which includes lengthening, strengthening, and functional fitness. Ashley teaches a contemporary style of Pilates with a sprinkle of athleticism. That means you’ll improve your endurance in addition to burning a few (ok, probably more than a few) extra calories. If you like to learn, you’re in for a treat because Ashley loves to teach. You’ll get to know your own body better than ever and learn something about anatomy, astrology, ancestry, or whatever else the topic of the day might be.
We may incorporate small props into your routine, depending on your personalized workout plan. Please let Ashley know if you have any favorite exercises. You should enjoy your workouts even if they do feel challenging.
